On-Demand: Early Results of Class Action Settlements Under New Northern District of California Guidelines

How do the Northern District of California’s changes to Procedural Guidance impact your class action settlement?

As most class action practitioners are aware, the Northern District of California amended its new procedural guidance for class action settlements in November 2018.

Many of the first cases to be subject to the new guidelines are now concluding and some have recently received final approval. During this on-demand webinar, members of our class action administration team examine early results from cases administered under the new guidelines and how the Court’s guidance impacts class action cases both in the Northern District and around the country.

The new guidelines, which are the most detailed in any court system in the country, outline expectations for settlement administrators as well as class counsel. During the presentation, Heffler leadership Mark Rapazzini, Esq.Scott Fenwick, and moderator Jim Prutsman share their practical experience with the new guidelines and how attorneys can efficiently prepare to satisfy due process.

The presentation walks through big changes such as post-distribution accounting and heightened transparency requirements. It also touches upon the background of Northern District Guidance, the intent behind the additional requirements, and what steps counsel and settlement administrators should be prepared to take.
