Heffler Claims Group (Heffler) is an industry leader in class action claims administration.  Over the past number of years, Heffler has experienced significant, national growth and is looking for high-energy Claims Analysts to join our growing team.  The home office is located in center city Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Job Description

Heffler administers class action settlements in consumer, securities, antitrust, employment and other class action matters.  As part of our procedures in administering a class action settlement, we are responsible for mailing notices to potential class members, receiving and reviewing claims filed by individuals, businesses and other entities, calculating losses and auditing claims to determine the extent of the damages incurred.  We also process settlement checks under the court’s direction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) preferred
  • 3-5 years in Financial Services with a concentration in Securities analysis
  • 0-3 years in Claims or Class Action Business
  • Strong Computer Skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to interpret and translate written calculations to Excel Formulas
  • Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Detail-Oriented

In addition to the above qualifications the position will have the following specific responsibilities based on the particular assignments given to the Analyst:

  • Understanding the concepts of First-In First-Out (‘FIFO’) and Last-In First-Out (‘LIFO’)
  • Understanding the concepts and a working knowledge of Common Stock, Preferred Stock, Short Sales/Covers, Puts/Calls, Options, Bonds/Notes, ADRs, IPOs
  • Ability to interpret Court ordered Plans of Allocation and calculate gains and/or losses accordingly
  • Corresponding with clients to ensure claim calculations are completed accurately and up to standard
  • Conduct reviews of claims submitted by individuals and determine/verify if the claims are in accordance with the Court-approved Plan of Administration
  • Corresponding with class members and claimants via telephone and email regarding issues with submitted claims and responding to general status questions
  • May also be assigned to assist in claims review in other types of class action matters
